Projects

CPFM

The lab collaborates with Dr. Daniel Sem in the Department of Chemistry on the Chemical Proteomics Facility at Marquette. We are working on tools for virtual screening against common drug targets such as CYP2D6, biomedical literature mining for proteomics information, and novel web interfaces for accessing proteomics data.

MeSHMiner

The lab is developing biomedical text mining tools that leverage the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) biomedical controlled vocabulary. To date, we have developed approaches for clustering based on MeSH representations, classification tools, methods for identifying experimental techniques in articles, and gene mention named entity recognizers. In addition, we are exploring methods for managing Medline and PubMed for the purposes of text mining.

Microarray Modeling and Analysis

The lab collaborates with several investigators to analyze microarray data. In addition, we are developing mathematical models of microarray hybridization to better characterize possible sources of variation across microarray experiments.
